How will Crespo be looked upon when he retires?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Third one for me. He hasn't been one of the best players in his position imo.

Argentina - 34 goals in 65 appearances.

Club record - 243 goals in 493 appearances. Less than a goal every other game.

Has only ever once scored more than 25 goals in one season.

One of the best CF's of his generation for me. The model classic striker.

25 goals per season doesn't happen much in Serie A, especially when Crespo was at his peak.

A class act and a great striker I don't see why he should be any higher, he's not an all-time legend and there have been better strikers in recent years, RvN, Batistuta, Ronaldo, Henry, Eto'o. So IMO he can only be the third choice at best.

Ronaldo, Henry, Bergkamp, RVN, Eto'o, Shearer, Trezeguet, Shevchenko, Raul, Del Piero, and others were levels above Crespo.

Crespo better than Eto'o and Shevchenko?

Yep and yep. How many good seasons has Eto'o had? Two? Sheva was as good as Crespo, if not better for a few years, but didn't sustain his form.

Eto'o pisses all over Crespo. Much better player.
