We have umpteen double winners in the squad though, Tevez contributed well scoring vital goals but what does he bring to the table apart from the odd goal or four, he doesn't do enough thinking, rushes into everything and deserts whoever he supposed to be partnering up front.

Berbatov links well and brings something different out of the team, just wait until Paul Scholes gets involved in this and we will be such an incisive team.

I agree with Diego here and im afraid some people have very short memories but I dont and I can tell you now that if it wasnt for Tevez you would have won zero trophies last season and was probably Uniteds 3rd most important player over the season.

That was last season, it's history.

Berbatov hasn't mad any mark in the big games and Tevez has done that countless times, and he single handly fend off chelsea from the title last season IMO.

i watched nearly all our home games live last season mate, and the crowd responds to tevez more than they'll ever do for berbatov, tell me 76.000 are wrong  thats because tevez is all action, even if he's not playing well he's 100 per cent effort, berbatov won't work or battle like this so if he not on top form he's a passenger, berbatov will never hit 20+ league goals for united you can bet on that

Carlos Tevez is a big game player :smoke: is Berbatov? I cant ever remember him doing anyway in the big games regardless of what side he is playing for. Anyone who thinks Tevez has no ability is kidding themselves and I suggest you look at his goals before you start slagging him off.

You don't start for argentina if you got no ability and I would prefer Tevez at the moment. That formula work last season pefectly.

Berbatov had Liverpool and Chelsea away in his first 2 games, could there have been a tougher start?

Well anyways in both those games we as a team were poor and Berbatov made the assist for Tevez' goal at Anfield and Park's goal at SB so not bad IMO.

Ok so he didn't run around like a real warrior in any of those games but he contributed more than 9 other players on both occasions. We play different football to last season that much is clear and that made us able to dominate posession at the Emirates, something we didn't do last season or any season since Wenger's been about.

It's a great shame there are fans that still don't appreciate a player of Berbatov's quality and maybe if Tevez had those qualities he would actually start a big game.

Sure he made assist but after that he went missing..I had to check the line up again and see if he was playing in all the big games this season. Berbatoc haven't contributed the way I expected him in his first couple of monhs IMO.

Tevez does always give 100% but surely youre not saying effort alone gets you a place in Utd's team!, you need ability and Tevez has limited ability and really if he hadn't of scored the 4 goals tonight he would be on the bench on Saturday make no mistake about it.

Why? Because he isn't better than Rooney and certainly isn't better than Berbatov.

The crowd like to see effort and just because they cheer Tevez hardly means they think he is better. Do you think fans want to pay to see an Argentinian shield the ball for 90 mins or do they want to see moments of magic from a brilliant Bulgarian?

Berbatov will score 20+ league goals as well, maybe not this season but he is far more likely to do it than Tevez.

I have said many times Carlos Tevez is a top top player and I am disgusted how the fact that Berbatov is playing every game and yet poor old Carlos is on the bench when clearly Berbatov is a waste of space and does very little for his team.

:greatpost: SPOT ON

Berbatov has played well in some games, unfortunately he hasn't in the big games and imo he's been more a liability in those games. He may of got the assisst against liverpool but he did nothing else all game, whereas tevez scored had another chance and generally worked his socks off. Against chelsea berba was, for me, the worst player on the pitch he didn't do anything, he only played in fits and starts against arsenal and was poor against city

Personally i'd rather see tevez start in the big games, you know he will give 100% for the team and he has a knack of scoring in big games plus i thought him and rooney worked well last season. I don't agree that berbatov is a better player than tevez either, berbatov has looked good but not in the big games yet but i've no doubt he will

Could be worse tho, we could have spent 20m on robbie keane

Hard-working players are always fans favourite, don't talk bollocks.

Fergie picks Berbatov, tell me the most succussful manager of all-time is wrong

I have to go now but will respond later. Homer, don't give me this short memory codswallop when you want Wenger out.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart
