Chelsea might be just one point from the top of the table, but that hasn't stopped The Sun turning up the heat on manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.
However, and most atypically, the London tabloid has provided statistical evidence to support its claims that the Brazilian is the Blues' poorest performing boss since Roman Abramovich bought the club five years ago.
Their recent loss to Arsenal means Chelsea have won 59.1 per cent of their games since Scolari took charge at the start of the season, a figure which does not compare favourably with his predecessors.
Avram Grant, who vacated the hot-seat just prior to the ex-Selecao coach's arrival, boasted a win ratio of 63.6 per cent after 15 Premier League games. But the veteran Israeli's record pales in comparison to that of the two Stamford Bridge bosses who went before him.
Claudio Ranieri had led the Londoners to victory 77.3 per cent of the time at the same stage of the 2003-04 season, and yet the resulting second-place finish wasn't enough to save him his job.
The Tinkerman, currently at Juventus, was replaced by Jose Mourinho, who now coaches Inter Milan - and the Portuguese gaffer tops the list of Abramovich-era managers with 78.2 per cent.
Thus, Scolari clearly has some work to do to please the higher-ups at Chelsea, a task that will only be made tougher by his non-existent transfer kitty this January.
However, it is unlikely the Russian owner or the chief executive, Peter Kenyon, will be too concerned with facts and figures if their is some new silverware in the trophy cabinet come May.
They have a 66% win ratio in the PL thus far and a 59% winning ratio in all comps under Scolari. It's still early days so I wouldn't read too much into these statistics but Chelsea definitely seem more vulnerable this season, albeit whilst demolishing most bottom half sides before half-time.
Is Scolari the man to take Chelsea that step further?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

its a joke, scolari is doing a great job at chelsea, why are people complaining... i know why, cos chelsea fans are all glory hunting prawn sandwich eaters
The Chelsea fans and Abramovic wanted attacking football, and this is the price they have to pay. Nobody is better than Mourinho, Scolari ain't got a thing on him.

Wouldn't say he's doing a 'great job'. He's managed to get them playing good football but they are poor at home and have lost at Stamford Bridge 3 times already this season! Also lost to Roma and almost Bordeaux in CL...
So although they've looked amazing away from home they have been poor at home and have shown no resolve or character against Pool and Arsenal, something that was guaranteed under Mourinho.

people keep telling us wenger is a great manager... since 2004 ice seen little evidence of that....
why should scolari whos team has every chance of winning a treble get called the worst manager of the abramovich era when in the same era arsenal have one nothing under wenger?
funny how football clubs work nowadays.
its just extra proof that at any other club, wengers antics wouldnt be stood for.

Neville doesn't have Scholes' mobility, vision, passing execution, awareness, technique and composure, so how is their decline in speed/stamina comparable?
I'll assume you're not from England but Scholes is a United legend if you're wondering and I like many others have faith in his ability. He's 34 years of age so won't last the full 90 of frantic matches, but still offers a lot and can play a vital role for 60 minutes or so.

Chelsea's expectations are far higher than Arsenal's, they won't settle for anything but success.
Also, it was the SUN that came up with that headline, and obviously it is a little naughty, as Scolari is merely being compared to former managers' starts.
