Torres beating Cassilas to 3rd was a severe injustice. |

Disgusting that Torres got 3rd. Casillas deserved a lot more than 133. Messi will win next year's with ease. 15 goals and 11 assists already and he's dominating. |

Based on the calender year so anything Messi does in 2008 bears little relevance to the 2009 award. Casillas should have been 2nd for sure, an outstanding year for him. |

But these 15 goals and 11 assists will add up to his end of season tally and the points gained in the league will possibly win his side the league, and those things will be what's looked at, so in theory his performances won't be counted but what they're contributing to will be. |

Yeah I see what you mean but I'm sure there are other players making a telling contribution to their teams around Europe, like Eto'o who has loads of goals too. He can win it if he stays fit for most of 2009 but it's a bit early for anyone to be favourite for next years award. There is an entire year to get through. But Messi is on fire so far, didn't realise he had 17 goals already! |
