As Manchester City continue to flash their cheque-books about hoping to lure the best players in the world to Eastlands, former England legend Sir Bobby Robson has advised the club to forget about every other player and focus their resources on signing Lionel Messi from Barcelona. Robson, who coached Barca during the 1996/97 season, left no doubt as to who he believes is the best player in the world today and what he would do if he had the kind of money City now boast. “If I were the administrator of Manchester City and had proprietors who are willing to give me money to sign players, I would buy Messi in the January transfer window,” Robson told in The Sun. “He is the best young player in the world and there aren’t many clubs that can afford to make a signing such as this. “It’s an opportunity that cannot be missed and if City want to be the best team in the world, then they need the best player in the world.” Will Messi ever join Man City? I think not. |

Would be nice wouldn't it Bobby. Did you stumble across him on Football Manager or is he someone you've scouted? |

I think we'll sign one fairly big name like Huntellaar and a few standard players like Santa Cruz, Diarra and Taiwo. |

Maybe one day Messi would like to play in the Premiership, But I think he's happy where he is at the moment. |

to be honest ant, i quite like the idea of city getting some class players in, just hope they are all available to play in the old t derby game, one thing i look forward to, is seeing quality players, i hate it when they are out injured or suspended. |

in all honesty city wont get any of the big names. the only reason they got robinho was cos he wanted out and chelsea wouldnt stump up the cash. the fact is, top class players want to be playing top class football, that means champions league and top table finishes, and city are not at this stage. i can see them getting players in that are good but not the top class stars people want. i give it a couple of years or more before city start getting the big names in. they will have to get champions league footy first |

Diego is a real big possibility now with Werder going out of the CL and probably missing out on the UEFA Cup spot too. He's right up our street and a big name that will attract bigger names. |
