I know, one of 6 Pool players to do so, the other 5 being Gerrard, Ladyboy, Benayoun, Kuyt and Crouchy...

But most of Babel's were against shit sides.

Such as Arsenal?

Babel scored 2 goals in an 8-0 thrashing of Besiktas, scored against Derby and scored against Luton.

I remember him scoring against Chelsea (shit keeping from Cech) and against Arsenal (sealing a win on the break).

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

When the ball comes in from the right hand side, drilled low, flicking it like Babel did is not that difficult a skill. I play percentage passes like that.

How can you possibly deny it was poor keeping from Cech? He'd save that 20 times out of 20 on a normal day.

Zola's flick against Norwich is nothing like what Babel did against Besiktas.

Zola had a ball curled in, and took it in midair, almost controlling the ball in the same instance as flicking it. That's just majestic, and nothing like what I described.

Bentley's goal was superb because he saw Almunia off his line (it's debatable as to whether he was too far off it) and then executed to perfection...

Babel on the other hand, who although hit a nice long-range effort, would have had that saved on a normal day.

Your comparisons on both issues are laughable.

Translation -

I have yet again been verbally outwitted by Scholes. Maybe one day I will learn.

interlectual

That's a long word for you, shame you spelt it wrong though :devil2:

Just quote my post and tell me what you disagree with. I don't quite know how you can argue against what I've said as blatantly, both scenarios are not comparable to the other examples you have given. I've explained why.

Babel's flick was like Lee Sharpe's goal v Barca in 1994. Not really that difficult IMO.

I rate Zola's and Kanu's backheeled goals far higher.

Precisely...How anyone can compare Zola's magic with a simple flick from a low cross is beyond me. The flick goals are very nice but Zola's was majestic and Phil somehow manages to discredit it.

Zola's flick was control and shot in the same instance. The way he cushioned the ball for that split second in that action is very difficult, as was finding the gap at that near post.

You don't see it every week because it's not often a low cross from the right comes in that's slightly behind you, and it's not often you have space to do it either. That's why you rarely see it.

If you've played football though, I'm sure you can appreciate the skill being pulled off but it's not exactly special.

Btw, did you see the Gerrard penalty debate topic where I stuck up for your beloved?
