Swedish official Martin Hansson reveals that he received death threats in the aftermath of awarding Gerrard a penalty against Atletico.

Quote:

"They threatened me with death," he declared.

"They called all the time and sent many messages. I am normal, but this time it was too much with a bad tone, and it was very unpleasant. I have had enough, it is that simple."

Hansson also revealed that he has had to change his phone numbers and has mulled over the idea of quitting. Nevertheless, he believes that there is some good in football.

"It is not worthwhile to be able to influence all this, one does refereeing because of enjoyment," he said.

"I am going to continue believing that football can be good, it would be sad if these dark forces are the ones that win."

Aside from the fans the Swedish referee also denounced the media, who have been on his case since the incident happened. He said that he understands their job but that this has just been too much.

"It seems to me that it is very rare that it is written about referees who do stuff well, only when there is some doubt, then everyone writes bad things," he opined.

"It is normal to emphasise that a large error has been made, but to write about it for days and weeks is too much."

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

The moral of the story is: don't let that diving piece of shit Gerrard decieve you.

Winner.

"If I go to Anfield and someone puts the ball into the box and Carragher hammers it out of play the fans applaud. At Camp Nou you would never be applauded for that." - Xavi
