it doesnt have to be a world class player though, just somebody different... i dont see how it helps when we are not having joy with berbatov or rooney to bring on tevez who is the same and has been playing badly |

I was just responding to someone else' post that Man Utd should splash out on a £30m striker...Eto'o being one name. I can't see Eto'o leaving another European Giant...to warm a bench. |

If Fergie can keep him happy with the amount of games he gets which Fergie is good at doing tbh, then maybe we should keep him as we probably wont get a player of his caliber to sit on the bench. Tevez though atm is cover for Rooney, he will get games but he is not in a position to complain if he is not starting against Liverpool or Arsenal, simply as he doesn't score enough. If he scores another near 20 goals this season and important ones again like last season and forms some sort of understanding with Berbatov then he will have proved himself. The way we play now is more of a latin style than last season so if he doesn't show any improvement then we must wave bye bye to him. |

This is the most pissed off I've been all week. The likes of Phil16 who I doubt even watches United judging from his comments in this thread, thinking Tevez should replace Berbatov. Shit, I can't believe how Berbatov's contribution goes unnoticed, even by our own fans at times. If you understand the game you will realise that Berbatov adds fluency to our attacking forays. His link-up play is exceptional, as is his hold-up play. He brings the best out of Rooney and Ronaldo and there is a noticable difference in our attacking play this season - fluid, silky, more productive. Tevez has shown at United so far, that he is a good player, but NOT a great player. Last season his goal tally was respectable but his overall game was certainly nothing to rave about. As Jeebus so rightly points out in the first post, his main attribute is his strength and shielding of that ball, a very good weapon to have as you will rarely see him tackled, but with the ball, he is not a special player. Everything seems rushed with him and he's pretty erratic in his distribution and shooting. He may work his socks off but that is the LAST thing you look for in a striker. Tevez is not worth spashing 30M on, especially with Rooney, Berbatov, Ronaldo, Welback etc. in the squad. Certain people don't notice the subtleties in football and would rather we played an all-action warrior up-front...'cause he's tireless. |

If Utd want a physical prescence up front and goals then 30m on Tevez is just not the option. 12m on Zaki would appeal more to me. |

If I was Carlos Tevez I would leave and join Real Madrid just because Man Utd and Fergie have dumped him for Berbatov. |

And rightly so, he doesn't deserve a place in the starting 11. He's not good enough. |

He most certianly isn't. Rooney offers a goal threat, is creative and links the play effectively. In addition to this he has all the qualities that Tevez possess's, industry a never say die attitude and a reference point for the fans. To be honest although Tevz is a good player I just think the money it would take to sign him could be better spent. |

If you consider our 1st choice selection is Berbatov|Rooney|Ronaldo and what those 3 players bring to our team. Now what does Tevez bring to the field that those 3 don't? I cant think of 1 thing to be perfectly honest! Tevez is good and his greatest asset to our team is that the work he does allows others more space and puts some pressure on the opposition. Unfortunately thats not enough to secure a place in our team. Rooney does all those things just as well as Carlos but Rooney brings goals, assists and delightful link up play with Berbatov who is now the centrepoint of all our good play. Tevez needs BIG improvement if he is to get to Rooney's level. |

He brings hard work and the team is far sounder defensively with him in the side. You can't just balme the back four for your poor defending this season, defence starts at the front and in Berbatov you have someone who can't be arsed off the ball. Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo is your best front three and the best way to get the best out of Ronaldo as well as improve the defence. |
