Kevin Phillips :D

Ronaldo in 07/08, Henry in 03/04 & 04/05 and Cantona in 96/97 are the best ever seasons by PL players.

Then you have Shearer, Scholes, Bergkamp who are just light years ahead from Phillips.

All Phillips done was score loads of goals, Ronaldo beat that tally of goals last season and he didn't have the mighty Quinn winning every aerial ball for him :D

but phillips played for SUNDERLAND

and got them into the top half of the table

says it all really, i rest my case

Know what you mean Phil, it was a fantastic achievement scoring that many goals but Phillips was just 1 half of one of the most effective pairings in PL history if you ask me.

Has there ever been a more dominant figure in the air than Niall Quinn, he is IMO a big reason Phillips got most of those goals.

Whereas the other lads Henry, Ronaldo, Cantona needed no help.

Well you can never tell if they would or not but what im really trying to say is Phillips wouldn't have scored near 30 PL goals had Quinn not been in the team.

It was a big part of his impressive goal tally, up to Quinn, he knocks it down for Phillips who finishes.

A bit like Agbonlahor at Villa, would he score all those goals if Carew wasn't in the team?

How obnoxious is that post!

If we're merely talking Premiership seasons, then Ronaldo 07/08, Scholes 02/03/06/07, Henry 02/03/03/04, RVN 02/03, Lampard 04/05, Beckham 98/99, Pires 01/02, Ljungberg 01/02 are just a few of the wonder seasons I've seen in my time watching football.

Gerrard doesn't get near that list as most of his exploits are in the CL with the Cup Kings.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

He did win the PFA award but that doesn't mean he was better than Cantona who won the award in 97, or Henry or Ronaldo who also won the award in outstanding seasons.

In 97 Cantona needed NO assistance, Henry was a magical player for 3 or 4 years, Ronaldo is probably the greatest attacking weapon football has een for 20 years.

Phillips done it for one season with the aid of Quinns knockdowns.

Scholes is arguing that MOST of the good things Gerrard does is in cup competitions which is correct, a few late goals in the PL here and there to save his team doesn't make it a wondeful season.

Am i right in thinking Gerrard won this award in 04/05?, the year he helped Liverpool finish 5th in the PL!, he wasn't so special that season Liverpool were average in the league over 10 defeats which is shocking.

There have been many other players that have had more productive seasons than Gerrard that year. IMO anyways.

Gerrard won it in 06 in which he scored 10 league goals....and we are talking solely Premiership seasons here...Gerrard won the award for his FA Cup and CL exploits that year mainly, a very productive year for him.

But Lampard deserved the award after his pivotal contribution to Chelsea's second PL title, scoring 16 league goals.

Does he deserve the award more than Ronaldo?

And why do you take a liking to Fernandoladyboycouldn'ttrapabagofcementTorres yet seem to completely disregard a certain Frankqualityfor4yearswhataplayerLampard?

Ronaldo deserved it but oh well

Because Torres is a player that really excites me with his pace movement technique finishing etc etc. He scored more than RVN did in his first season and that itself deserves respect.

An absolute joke. Torres is a good player but Ronaldo is on another planet compared to him, Torres isn't even the best striker in the world let alone the best player in the world, as Ronaldo is.
