Lampard always gives his all and is an all round player unlike Cesc.

Oh yeah and when has Lampard ever shone for England?

Cesc played for Spain when they won Euro 2008, when
has Lampard ever won anything like that for England.
He disappears most of the time and we get t he tired old
saga that him and Gerrard can't play together.

International performance has little bearing on player comparisons. Club football is the bread and butter, but Lampard has shone for England before, scoring 6 or 7 goals in one year.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Fabregas is weak. He needs to learn from Frank Lampard about cutting edge and assertiveness in football games.

Sneijder I was raving about at the Euros, absolutely fantastic tournament, but he's not world class and never has been.

Fabregas shits on Lampard in every category besides scoring.

Fabregas has no balls.

Lampard is quicker, stronger, more experienced, gutsier, better mentality, better positionally, and better at ghosting into goal-scoring positions, where usually, he finds the back of the net.

Last season was the only season in which Fabregas was better than Lampard, and Lampard was injured for a lot of it.

Fabregas needs to be assertive like Lampard and apply his talent at important times and in important games.

Lampard has had the privilige of playing with every expensive
footballers all around him. Fabregas at a very young age
starting back 3 seasons ago, has had heady praise from
Manager's and critics alike. He also has been expected to carry
the Arsenal team at times, something that if Lampard had
played for Arsenal with its young team would have found a lot
different.

Why compare them, there is a lot more to come from Cesc
but will it be with us if we carry on without a couple of experienced
players to help him out. He can't do it on his own. He is not
lazy, he is talented and a great passer of the ball.

Don't blame Arsenal's up and down form on him, or do you think
if Lampard played in his place at Arsenal he could have made a
difference to our up and down form?

Why compare the two?

I posted what I felt Cesc was lacking. DaGunners then compared both Lampard and Fabregas to each other. I responded :)

With regards to the actual debate, I don't think picturing either player in their counterpart's team is an accurate way of doing things.

You mention Lampard playing with expensive superstars and Fabregas playing in a team of kids...but which team over the last few years has had more possession and which team creates more openings? Arsenal...so it's not like Cesc hasn't been able to express himself.

Lampard has ruined many weekends of mine...he was just such a top player and I also feel he is overlooked by fans.

I respect your opinions but for the life of me find it hard to
compare a 21 year old still learning his trade with a 30 year
old. The criticism is unfair. Was Lampard as good at 21?

What Fabregas has achieved at a young age is brilliant yet it
seems because he has become a popular figure at Arsenal
its like 'oh lets shoot him down'

You say who has created more openings over the seasons well
what exactly DO you expect from such a young player? My
husband is a Spurs supporter and every time he watches Arsenal
with me he comments on the fact that Fabregas rarely gets
caught with the ball, and how well he passes and make s
openings.

I will leave it there as never intended to have a row over this
we both have different opinions so be it

Bullshit. Fabregas is far better passer, far better mobility, far better tackler, and far better defensively overall, far better vision, and far better creativity.

If you took Lamps goals away he would be a nothing player, just another Gareth Barry.

Kay, I do not expect any 21 year old to be as good as Frank Lampard and it is a tribute to Cesc Fabregas that he is that good at such a young age. I think he's a terrific player, I just don't like the way DaGunners disrepects a footballer (Frank) that has done and achieved so much in his career on a personal level :)

Your husband is a Spurs fan. I hope you didn't watch the 4-4 draw with him :hysterics: :D

He'd still be a good player but obviously not a great one.

But never mind about taking his goals away, you can't do that, and whether you like it or not, putting the ball in the back of the net is required to win football matches and is a huge part of the game, along with passing.

Some people seem to put too mucn importance on goalscorers and totally overlook playmaking midfielders/link strikers, but you've gone to the other extreme.

Lampard is a luxury player for me. Not needed in a proper footballing team. No chance he would get into United or Arsenal. Only reason he works so well was because of Mourinho and his style of play. So defensive that he is basically playing a striker in midfield so that he has the extra bodies in there to defend.

He plays for Chelsea and without Lampard Chelsea would not have amassed so many points from 04-06, I guarantee that.

Arsenal were fighting off Spurs and Bolton for fourth when Lampard was winning Chelsea the league so I understand you overlooking him.

Hi I was with HIM when Spurs came from behind but he is a nice
person and never gloats, However he is not keen on Fergie as
a person and when Arsenal were winning 2-1 with minutes to go
I locked myself away after what happened against Spurs, but
could hear him shouting for Arsenal to hold on. Funny old
game with funny old football supporters lol.

By the way have stuck up for Lampard when people call him Fat
Frank, He is not fat and has contributed towards the success of
Chelsea. Always want him to do well for England. No am not
backtracking but to compare him and Fab is way out because of
the age difference. However think you are a fair person and can
understand your defence of him thumbsup:

Look at the defense Lampard plays in front of. Put Denilson and Cesc in front of Mikel, Terry, and Carvalho and they would piss on Lamps and Deco's production. Our midfielders shoulder much, much more responsibility. Denilson isn't ready yet, and his partnership with Cesc isn't getting better as I thought it would...
