Barca's free kick scored by Messi. A piece of geniusness. :)

Now, I have said for absolutely ages that teams should vary the way they take set-pieces, and Andy Gray echoed my sentiments yesterday in the City game.

If you put a bit of thought and time into it you can easily fool opposition set-ups and exploit gaps, instead of blasting the ball ALL the time.

Here are some lovely examples of well-worked free-kicks -

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Defo Im a big fan of doing different things on free kicks etc. sometimes teams try it unsucessfully and look like idiots!

If its thought out well and all players involved are focused they can be pulled off quite easily as Barcelona showed last night.

When I hear 'well worked free kick' the first thing that comes to mind is Argentina vs England WC98. Awesome free kick.

Utd should do it more and use Ronaldo as a decoy, have Ronaldo take 20 steps backwards as he does, take the deep breath like he does and as soon as he exhales and everyone is waiting for a Ronaldo special....In comes Scholes or Rooney with a belter!

The anticipation on Ronaldo's free kicks is unreal, Utd should use it to their advantage IMO.

Yes, but after it's done once, it becomes a little predictable :)

Rmemeber Hull's first goal against us? I like the way the ball is placed and kicked immediately. Has a good effect I think.

Ronaldo wouldn't want someone to take his chance of glory away though. It would be hard to get the ball from any decent free kick taker as they probably believe they have more chance of scoring directly.

We sort of done it V Arsenal last season if you remember. Ronaldo got ready to blast it and in came Hargreaves.

I could see that a million miles away though as Ronaldo didn't put the ball as specifically as he does usually.

Arsenal just stood there like a bunch of statues!

Yeah i remember saying that on the matchday chat. It was a very smartly worked free kick.

Don't clog the forum up lol, I'll merge this topic.

Ballack and Drogba hate each other.
