i thought that at first but on the replays the ball travels a long way and swerves viciously in the air changing direction, so bentley should get the credit

Bentley without a shadow of a doubt. Lampards was still excellent though.

if the goalkeeper had been alert and not so far out of his goal he would have had is easy

You can only beat what is put in front of you. He had the vision and presence of mind to shoot from there while almunia was off his line. Amazing goal.

No mate, that was incredible technique if you watch it closely. It was also unexpected, the way he just flicked that up and wellied it, generating incredible venom, dip and swerve. Goal of the season...don't think anyone will beat it. Lampard's goal was majestic too.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Whether Bentley's goal was hit and hope or not, he put the ball in the net from near 40 yards, if that was easy we would see it every week wouldn't we, but we dont see that type of goal vey often.

Which means Bentley's goal was a special one, keepers are always coming off their line but they hardly ever get lobbed from 40 yards successfully.

The fact he teed himself up for it means it was harder to execute and it was no fluke, not lucky either, Almunia was a bit off his line and Bentley did the rest, he should be applauded for it. Great goal.

the reason you dont see it very often is because it doesnt take good technique or skill which loads of players have, you dont see it very often because it is hit and hope... it came off, sure but it wasnt down to bentley's ability, it was down to luck

if it was down to ability and if goalkeepers are always coming that far off their line then you would see it more surely?

i never been that impressed by those kind of shots tbh
