It seems that Liverpool are living off a lot of luck atm, they only really seem to score through good fortune and dont have the guile to undo difficult defence's

How long can this continue or will they eventually play as well as their table position suggests?

They are great at defending which is always a good place to start but this style of play will hopefully start costing them points soon.

Spurs will be a tough game at the weekend and as poor as Spurs are at defending i feel that Liverpool are as poor at creating chances. Will it be another case of a penalty or a deflected goal that seals the 3 pts for them again?

It is a mark of champions to continue winning even when not playing well or creating many clean cut chances. Having said that, i really hope spurs do them this weekend.

Tbh, that is not always strictly true. It annoys me when people say this as it is also equally as likely that you are riding your luck and when it runs out you start dropping points.

The real mark of champions is to be able to win the most games over a course of a season.

But that is how you end up winning the most games during the season. If when riding their luck they win most games and then they start playing well and creating chances that puts them in with a great shout.

you dont get what i am saying, it is just as likely that they arent creating many chances because they arent that good or because of the way they play and when their luck runs out they may struggle

to say that winning games without playing that well is the mark of champions just annoys me, it is just a saying that commentators use to build up hype and make it look like they have a clue what they are talking about imo and over simpilifies the whole situation

Liverpool are scabbing it at the moment and they can play alot better than they have done.

But pickin up the points when not playing well has been the thing they have struggled with for a good while now and how ever they manage it now they are after all managing it.

Who says we arent we creating chances, we unlocked Chelseas defence a fair few times at the weekend and Portsmouth only had James to thank for it not being a goal.

And its hardly luck if a player does the worst impression of superman to give us a penalty.

Just watching football first here and the entire Portsmouth team is just camped in there own half in the sceond half.

what makes you think they will play better though? i think the reason they are scraping the results is because they play too defensively

ive seent hem more creative and relaxed. I think they are feeling the pressure of being at the top a bit. if they chill winston a bit it could flow a little better.

I completely get what you are saying but liverpools problem over the last few years has been that when playing well they pick up lots of points but when they struggle for form they dropped loads against all opposition.

Now however, whilst not playing great they are still grinding out results. Everybody knows they can play a lot better and when they do they could be very hard to beat.

Liverpool were very close to dropping points last night because they couldn't break pompey down, the way you are playing for now is working but you will drop points soon when things arent going your way

As i said most teams will struggle against teams who are encmaped in there own half, and if it wasnt for James (wanker) we would have run riot.

they are playing different now than in previous seasons, everyone is saying they are not playing well and picking up points fair enough... but alot of their players are on form, the whole back 4, alonso, gerrard, reira, kuyt are all playing really well... i don't see them getting any better playing this way tbh

not against pompey, they have been shit all season and leaking goals left right and center, i read the match reports and they could only cite a couple of half chances you had
