Inter striker Adriano was told to go home by Jose Mourinho when he turned up late for training this morning... The coach is furious with the Brazilian who had been doing everything well up until now. Adriano was sent home for turning up late as the coach shows his no-nonsense attitude. The Brazilian has been training well and he was slowly getting back to his best but he has taken a step backwards following today's latest shambles. Sky Sport 24 claim Adriano was sorry and he apologised to both coach and players but Mourinho was not prepared to listen to his excuses and he told the striker not to bother putting his boots on. The hit-man was visibly upset as he sped away from the training ground, he was called up by sporting director Marco Branca once he left Appiano Gentile and was told he would not be in the squad for the game against Fiorentina. It is believed Mourinho will call Adriano later this afternoon to explain his decisions and to get the player back on the right track. For now, one thing is certain, Adriano will not play against Fiorentina |

Its harsh, and i feel sorry for Adriano as he has been getting far better. However, this should help to inspire him to work harder and gain Mourinho's respect, and could be a good thing in the long run. Good man management if you ask me. They may struggle against Fiorentina, though i think Gilardino is banned I fucking hate how channel five no longer have Seria A, i loved watching the highlights on a saturday morning  |

Ye he is banned for two games due to sporting conduct. Adriano was so depressed he was suicidal a few years ago so I hope he can keep his head down and work hard because on his day he is worth 30m. As a kid I used to love Seria A with your Batisutas Chiesas Verons Del Pieros etc etc but now it is just so boring and I actually enjoy the bundesliga more lol. |

"There is no player in Serie A who is as serious, respectful and educated as Gilardino," declared Italy national team coach Marcello Lippi. "Both Fiorentina and Gilardino have been attacked," added a furious Viola boss Cesare Prandelli. These are just two of the bemused responses that have proceeded the news that Alberto Gilardino will now sit out two Serie A games for his controversial handball goal against Palermo on Sunday night. The court that punished Gila stated that the handball "was voluntary, intentional and not determined nor conditioned by Paolo Dellafiore, who was holding him in the previous moments. [It was a] seriously anti-sporting' act.” Football is a “funny old game”, as England and Spurs legend Jimmy Greaves once famously said, but when decisions such as the one against Gilardino are taken, it is also a downright stupid game. I have watched the replay of the incident around 30 times, and quite how the court can deem the handball as “voluntary, intentional and not determined nor conditioned by Paolo Dellafiore” I have no idea. The fact, as Lippi states, that Gilardino’s exemplary character and honesty, something which has probably made him a weaker player over the years, was not taken into account, is also absurd. Banning Gilardino because he 'may' have deliberately scored with his hand is farcical. Let’s also suspend Giorgio Chiellini because he may have tugged on Nicola Amoruso’s shirt at a corner, something the referee missed. Suspend Pippo Inzaghi for scoring while in an offside position. Why don’t we just punish every single player whenever an official makes a mistake. The referee was at fault, first for not spotting the foul by Dellafiore and thus awarding a penalty and red card, and then for missing the involuntary second phase handball by Gilardino. Who is the person that suffers now? Not Emidio Morganti. Udinese’s penalty against Roma was outside the area. Ban Antonio Floro Flores for not notifying the referee that he was upended two yards shy of the box. Isn’t it a coincidence that Fiorentina tonight take on Inter at the Stadio Franchi, a game that Serie A’s top-scorer will now miss. Isn’t it also a coincidence that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was spared the punishment by the same court for a clearly deliberate and, some would say, violent off-the-ball elbow on Genoa midfielder Thiago Motta. This is the same Ibrahimovic who, unlike Gilardino, has a history of controversy and hotheadedness. Is this once again an example of favouritism by the Italian league? You make up you’re own mind… Ridiculous. |
