God don't encourage him.

So far, he's chosen Dixon over Neville, Vieira over Keane, Pires over Giggs, Bergkamp over RVN/Shearer/Cantona, Winterburn over Irwin and Seaman over Schmeichel.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

hahaha, well the Seaman one is unforgivable, and i agreed with him on Pires and Bergkamp, the latter of whom was on of the best prem players ever, miles better than RVN and Shearer (imo).

Winner.

Why? The poll is for strikers, so i'm going for goal scorers rather than pansy diving frenchmen.

No, the thread is for strikers, made quite clear by the title of the thread.

And even if it was judged purely on goal-scoring then Henry would be top...

Difficult to choose 2 tbh, i went for Henry and RVN in the end though.

Shearer is so unlucky to miss out but IMO RVN is the best goalscorer there has been in Europe let alone England over the last 8 years.

Henry at his best was probably the best player to grace the PL so i cant leave him out.

I left Cantona my favourite ever player out which was difficult but RVN is a goal machine if there ever was one and Henry had everything except great heading ability and predatory instincts.

Why would he?

He's 3rd in the all time list. So at the very least I should drop RvN and bring in Andy Cole?

Being the all-time leading goalscorer doesn't make you the best. Surely ratio is a better way of looking at it.

Then surely RvN would be in?

Unless you can show me otherwise?

Thierry Henry scored 30+ goals in all competitions 6 seasons on the trot, and also won the golden boot 4 times compared to RVN's once. RVN was better in Europe though and once scored 44 goals in all comps (02-03!!).
