Yeah, before he was at Porto, but the price put both teams off i think. Both sides are covered at CM anyway. There was never any evidence of a three way bidding war was there?

No, but the implication was that Utd got in first.

Well they did get in first. But my point was that if Real/Barca both bid at the same time as United for this Costa then he's more likely to go to the fromer 2, imo, though United would have been a more tempting offer if they still had Quieroz.

Perhaps, but remember that Utd are European champions and presently Real and Barca are neither as good as Utd, nor Chelsea.
