MANCHESTER UNITED have made an £8million bid for Brazilian whizkid Douglas Costa, 18.

Boss Alex Ferguson is desperate to snap up the “new Ronaldinho” and see off competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Costa is the star of Brazil’s Under-19 team and plays for Gremio.

Fergie wants the deal sorted next week and is willing to let him stay in Brazil until next summer.

From the Sun........

Still been hearing good things about him :)

Wasn't Anderson meant to be the new Ronaldinho?

If Barca and Real are serious about him, i doubt he'll end up at United.

The premierleague is the place to be so where else better to be than United. Football culture is now changing and these south american stars now want to play in England.

How dare they compare youngsters with the most talented player ever

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

United had a lot more pulling power when they had Quieroz, without him it will be difficult for a youngster to adapt to a new rougher league, also Real and Barca are held in far higher regard in South America.

Costa isn't the next Ronaldinho. Will be nowhere near his standard.

Er, yes, that's why Quieroz went personally to secure the deal from Porto...

I was refering to Real and Barca's interest, because both registered their interest long before Utd did.

Yeah, before he was at Porto, but the price put both teams off i think. Both sides are covered at CM anyway. There was never any evidence of a three way bidding war was there?
