We have too many brainless wingers tbh, McGeady, Hunt and Duff they all do the same thing: Head down and run like the wind and run straight INTO players not around them like everyone else does.

Duiff doesn't do enough thinking, Hunt cant do anything apart from run in a straight line and McGeady well he is just clueless at times.

We have some real quality international players but we cant go with Whelan and Gibson, one a player not even a regular at Stoke and the other playing for Utd reserves.

Neither are a player i would say has the potential to become even near great, completely inexperienced at club level never mind international level.

Im delighted with our start and how other results have fallen for us but with Stephen Reid now out for the season i will be angry if Andy Reid isn't starting in our next qualifier.

He wont start our next qualifier unless we have even more injuries. Trap said that he cant make a player who is not a worker into a worker when he was talking about Reid yesterday. He wants to play with 2 physical devensive midfielders but we dont have any.

Im happy with how results have fallen but our general performance in all 3 has been quite poor.

Andy Reid is a wideman.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Andy Reid is a wideman.

Reid hasn't got the pace to be as good on the wings and wasn't even considered while Duff was on form, Staunton played him in the centre during the last qualifiers and he was revelation.

He isn't fast enough he hasn't got great acceleration he is not agile or sharp enough to do the things wingers do.

He has got a football brain though and good range of passing so i think his attributes are suited to being a central player, a hard working tough tackling player would be the perfect foil for him and he would blossom in the role.

Yeh, I've seen him live on a few occasions, class act for Charlton.

Yeah i spotted that after i posted but he offers little penetration from wide so it would be better to give that position to someone with speed and penetration.

The role he played in during most of his career is becoming an obselite postion tbh, everyone wants pace and movement, attacking full backs, wingers who track back etc.

He is our best passer by a long way so he can do more damage in a central role where he doesn't need to be so mobile.

Yeh, 100% agree, I've always rated him.

He is wide, he is a man, he is a wide man

I've followed Ireland all over Europe, we know we are not the best footballers in the world, but I'll tell you 1 thing, there's no bars shut, no riot police all over the City, and no water cannons on stand by, when the Green Army roll into town. Simply the best National supporters going, loved all over Europe.

Come on you boys in Green
