How on earth did they not lose is beyond me as they were shocking tonight and Leige should have won by about 3 or 4 goals as they were far better side in every aspect. As for Gerrard I no longer conside him europest finest as players like Xavi,Sniejder,Fabregas,Iniesta are better players at the minute. |

so you say that about gerrard after 20 minutes of playing and not even at full fitness, come on homer, you're better than that (although i'm sure someone will pop along in a minute and jump at that comment) Otherwise though, your right, we were shite tonight, but this is pretty much exactly as i thought it would pan out. We have always (bar last season) made it hard for ourselves in these qualification matches. However come the second leg we'll have shook off the rustiness, gerrard will be back to full fitness and should be able to start and one of either masch or babel will return as their teams play each other next. Poor display but i am confident that we'll turn it around just fine at anfield |

It wasn't just tonight Jimmy it has been the last 6 months where I felt Gerrard has been nowhere his normal level and I dont know why that is. I expect Liverpool to win the return leg but it will be very nervy as they now have the chance to get some away goal/s. |

I heard Keane was poor and lots of scousers are saying he was a waste of money. Talk about knee jerk reactions. First competitive game!!! |

exactly that, knee jerk reaction from the kind of people that would normally post such shite on sky sports. HE didnt play poorly, it was more the fact that the we couldnt get the ball up to them, everything was cut out well before torres and keane could even get involved. |

I remember when he played us in the CL home and away and he was non exsistent just like the Chelsea matches which disapointed me as I consider Steven a big game player. |

Spot on. Lots of teams struggle in these early games. Also, Standard have probably started preperations much earlier, as they didnt have players at the Euros. I know for a fact we werent match fit, and that helped Twente out a lot... |

three games? come on homer, he has played fantastically in many big games but theres no way you can expect him to be amazing in every one, show me one player that actually is! Last season he scored 22 goals and had over 15 assists in all competitions. |

aye, you cant expect the teams to be playing anywhere near a peak level at this stage, it'll take a couple more games for them to be really getting on top of things. For yourselves you had god knows how many injured, we had key players out and youth players on the pitch too. Things will improve undoubtedly as the next couple of weeks passes |

His stats are and always will be impressive but he has not been the driving force he normally is but maybe its because I have such high standards of him that when he has a small dip you tend to notice it more. His international form has maybe affected my decision as well. |

its because he is no longer the stand out player in our squad soley. Think about it, go back to before last season and it was gerrard with every headline, it was all about him. Now torres has arrived and so the limelight shifted, he has taken some of that limelight away from gerrard and also he's removed a lot of the weight from gerrards shoulder. To my mind thats allowed him to get on with his game far more. He's been able to play his game far more comfortably. The fact that he still has stats so impressive (and last season he equalled his best goal scoring season) but hasn't hit the headlines as much is testament to that. He's now just getting on with his game without having to bear the burden of an entire club on his shoulders at the same time. You can see it in him when he celebrates with torres for his goals, last season he played far happier than any season i have seen. |
