All 20 premierleague clubs meet today so that everyone can show respect to the officals.

they can have all the respect in the world once they sort out the consistancy of decisions. Until then its hardly surprising to see players getting miffed with decisions

I know it can really piss you off if a ref makes a bad decision that costs you the game and it happened many times last season. I think what happened with A.Cole and J.Mascherano was the final straw for Keith Hackett and his assitants.

aye, and i agree that masch should have been sent off for his disent but then there was no continued consistancy after that which annoyed me. We lost masch that game yet in games after many players were as bad if not worse and remained unpunished

I think that they should go all out and make it like rugby, only captains speak to the referee. Referee's do make mistakes and it can be very frustrating but they are playing the game aswell. Everybody has bad games.

The level of consistency is a problem though and maybe football could introduce video ref to help with the big decisions.

1 season of craziness yellow card wise in exchange for permanent respect for officials. There job is hard enough without every player screaming abuse at them.

thats fine aslong as its not for every little gripe. in the charity shield at the weekend the ref was going totally overboard at times threatenin yellows for every little question and anybody who plays footy knows in the heat of the moment its near impossible to hold everything in all the time.

But he was threatening every litte question or shrug with cards then missing people rugby tackling players inthe bax and players grabbing people by the throat. which in itself makes it a little harder to respect a refferee.

i know what your saying but there is a level that is acceptable and i see alot of those things being punished when its impossible to stop

In rugby if you ar not the captain and you speak to the referee without his permission he will sent you to the bin, do it again and you're sent off. This is now regarded as the done thing and is expected by players, coaches and officials.

I have played both footy and rugby and because of the higher level of intensity in rugby, it is harder to hold things in in the heat of the moment.

I agree that the referees situation needs to be addressed but its not as if every player plays the perfect game week in week out. Referees make mistakes in the heat of the moment as does every player, however, as he is officiating, all the major mistakes are scrutinised and any good/correct decisions pass by without note.

To improve the consistency of referee's bring in a video ref for penalty and goal-line decisions.

Good points Stuart.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.
