Memories of their penalty defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League final returned on Friday evening as Chelsea once again missed out in Moscow.

This time, however, the opposition was Lokomotiv Moscow and the competition the Railways Cup, though few could overlook the unfortunate nature of their defeat.

Chelsea looked dominant in the early stages of the match, with Michael Essien handing The Blues the lead after 27 minutes, firing home from Nicolas Anelka’s pinpoint lay-off on the edge of the box.

Despite their greater possession, the Premiership runners up were unable to extend their lead, allowing Ruslan Kambolov to level proceedings with a powerful free-kick with just six minutes remaining.

The ensuing penalty shoot-out saw both sides neck and neck until Andriy Shevchenko’s missed effort, sending the Russian side into Sunday’s final.

In the tournament’s other semi-final, AC Milan lost 1-0 to Sevilla, meaning the Italian giants will face the west Londoners in the third-place play off.

I love the way it was the same stadium :D

Edit: And the same scoreline

Winner.

HAHA.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Lokomotiv missed their first one and scored the rest, Bridge missed when he had the chance to win it! So 4-4 after 5 pens each. Then the Russian scored and Sheva missed.

Bridge just wanted to make Terry feel like he wasn't the only one.
