So who does everyone think is better at the deep lying creative midfielder role, discount age.

and based on last 2 seasons, i say 2 seasons because scholes has converted to this deep role in this duration and because both have in this time helped their team win the CL.

i reckon scholes, not that im biased i just happen to support the team of the better player. purely coincidence.

So who's the best at this role?

Pirlo, though he started to suffer burnout after Christmas this year, he's the best deeplying play-maker around and was one of the only shining light for Milan this season.

Scholes is good but i dont think he has the range of passing that Pirlo does, especially longer passes. Also Scholes was playing for a far better team last season, and was allowed to be rested unlike Pirlo.

Winner.

Scholes, I can't believe how well he has adapted to the role. I prefer watching him play that role than the free-scoring midfield role he had in his prime.

Scholes will surpirse a lot of people next season. Bar tackling he has it all. Short passes, long passes, agility (yep) and most importantly nigh-perfect ball use. His partnership with Carrick is telepathetic.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Scholes in his entire career has been better but over the last 2 season Pirlo has been a better player IMO.

But I agree with Pinpoint in that fact the Scholes looks a lot fresher this season and will surprise many with what he has left in the tank.
I am soft.
