JENS TELLS ADEBAYOR TO STAY AT ARSENAL EMMANUEL Adebayor is likely to spend the rest of his career searching for his best form if he leaves Arsenal, claims former Gunners keeper Jens Lehmann. Adebayor played his first game of the summer in Arsenal’s 3-1 friendly win at Stuttgart on Wednesday night, but his future continues to be clouded by doubt. Togo striker Adebayor, 24, has been flattered by interest from Barcelona and AC Milan this summer, but Lehmann, who believes Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season, has invited him to remember what had happened to other top Arsenal stars after they had left the club. Patrick Vieira, for example, never recaptured the dominant form that made him one of the world’s best midfielders after departing in 2005, while Thierry Henry, who joined Barcelona last summer, looked jaded throughout the season. Lehmann said: “I joined Stuttgart this summer, but it is different for me, because I am a goalkeeper and I am also 38 years old. But if you look at every player who has left Arsenal, he has not managed to shine again at his new club. “It is wrong to write off Arsenal. Last season everyone wrote us off, and we nearly won the Premier League title. You can see they still have the technique. “They have young players who have matured in the last year and who are maturing, so that will be a benefit for Arsenal. SEARCH FOOTBALL for: “Technically and football-wise, Arsenal are far beyond Chelsea and Manchester United. Technically and football-wise, they are the best team. “Everybody knows that, but now they have to show that they can win something. “It is true that they have lost important players including Gilberto Silva, Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb, but the young ones will be even better than they were last term.” After watching Adebayor struggle for match fitness for 45 minutes in his first appearance for the club since May, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger appeared more confident than ever that the striker’s future lay in north London. Adebayor is thought to want a significant increase on his £35,000-a-week contract – an improvement that could fall outside the boundaries of Arsenal’s rigid wage structure. Wenger said: “Emmanuel is 100 per cent committed. He is looking sharp in training. Will he stay? Of course. I am not worried, not at all. In other positions, we are maybe one player short, but up front we don’t need anybody else.” Wenger hopes that his third signing of the summer, Portugal Under-21 midfielder Amaury Bischoff, will prove another transfer coup, although he admits that the 21-year-old’s arrival from Werder Bremen is a risk. Wenger added: “Amaury is a young, promising player who we have taken a gamble on, because he has been out injured for a long time. He has had two bouts of surgery.” Wenger is also wary of the threat to Arsenal’s hopes of reaching the lucrative Champions League group stages as his side prepare to join Liverpool, Rangers and Drogheda in today’s third qualifying round draw. Despite the Gunners being one of 16 seeded teams, they could still face a tough test against Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray or Sparta Prague, who are all unseeded. I said it before and I will say it again NEVER EVER LEAVE ARSENAL because once you do your finished.Jens is a top bloke and I will never forget the time he winked at me behind his goal. Adebayor is staying simple as that folks and he will get at least as many goals as Torres/Drogba if not more. |

Well, I dont really care if Ade laves because we have enough who are quality. But if he stays we will be that much stronger. I am off everyone. Hopefully I will wake to a new signing tomorrow! |
