Eagles is an average player and nothing more. Belongs at a relegation-threatened side.

Scholes and Carrick are immense, admit it DG. Great partnership.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

I have always said Scholes is great. Carrick is ok. Not spectacular, but can keep it simple and keep the ball moving. Would much rather have him in my team over Stevie G.

2-1 United FT.

Brilliant performance in such heat, don't you think DG?

Glad to see you were impressed by Evans. He is an outstanding player and one of the best youngsters in the game. He will be world class IMO.

Nonce, you should've watched the whole game. Paul Scholes was amazing and played the whole 90 minutes. He made 200 passes.

The amount of passes means nothing, nor does the success rate mean much. The question we should be asking was the quality and the chances he created with his distribution.

200 passes means a lot. He averages 70 a game so 200 passes epomises how dominant our midfield were. Carrick and Scholes were brilliant and made Pompey look ridiculously average. Stroll in the park at 120 degrees.

Tevez, Eagles and Defoe.

Pompey played a full stength squad but Diop and Mendez got nowhere near our midfield. Pre-season friendly yes, but the signs are encouraging.

Diarra would be in the team ahead of Mendes, Campbell ahead of Pamarot. So almost full strength.

Diarra would have made it very difficult for Scholes.

Yeh, Diarra is obviously first choice but when a little 33 year old ginger lad dominates against Papa Bouba Diop in the swealtering heat of Nigeria, you know there's something wrong.

Wait till the second week of the season. Diarra and Bouba Diop will dominate the middle of the park.
