I think Rooney behind Walcott could be fantastic actually. Rooney, while I dont rate all his game, would probably provide good service for Theo in behind the defence.

DaGunners just praised Rooney

I see your point Jimmy and Owen does seem to produce the goods when called upon, but after losing a few yards of pace he cannot mask the poorer areas in his game.

On the other hand, he is proven, he is an out and out goalscorer who makes clever runs, can finish and is instinctive, and we don't have another player of his kind.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

exactly, i'm not saying i dont want to see the likes of walcott in the team. I hope to god he does prove himself good enough to fill owen's boots or at least someone does because come 2010 owen will be 30, he'll still be able to play but it'll certainly be his last tournament so someone will need to step in there.

As it stands right now at this moment there is no other english player I would rather have up front than Owen. With him you know that he will get his chances and theres a damn good chance he'll put one or more away. Anyone else and I just wouldnt feel that confident at all.

He can teach the new players a shed load, he can teach them the difference between club and country when playing and help them to improve as players for england massively.

Right now we stick with him, I see no other way, but hopefully in time someone like Walcott can take the reigns
