England are currently lacking a midfielder that can control, dictate and orchestrate a game, a midfielder that makes Hollywood balls look like percentage passes. I know DaGunners rates Michael Johnson highly so is he the answer to our problems?

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Michael Johnson should be the man for that role by 2010.

I think Wilshere will be a winger rather than a CM. I do think he could excel in a position behind the striker as well.

They only need one because they play so slowly at International level. If they played faster paced footie, they wouldnt need one. Imo, Carrick is the closest thing they have atm.

Winner.

I dont think Carrick can be that player. Michael Johnson should be starting in midfield next to Hargreaves...

Ah, i forgot you didnt rate Gerrard...

I agree with the youthful philosophy, but id replace Hart with Green and Johnson with Gerrard though i'd probli stick with Walcott cos to be fair, although he's not great, neither are any of the other strikers...

And unlike a lot of the other strikers Walcott will improve A LOT.

And id Gerrard is in the team nothing will change. He is one of the main reasons why England is poor.

And Green is not better than Hart or even James. He is a good shot stopper but makes some howlers.

cant abide with walcott being first choice up front, not until he proves he is ready. needs to show it in a full season at club level first

Who else would play up top? Maybe Owen, but he is in the decline and will not be a factor at 2010 IMO. Right now is about getting players ready for 2010 and I think that team will do the best job in representing England.
