real madrid are undeniably a great great club, but the politics behind the running of the club are disgraceful, imagine the outcry if the british government decided to pay man utd an outragous price for 'the cliff' the sold them back for a nominal price a state of the art training ground, well thats exactly what the spanish government did, is that not disrepectful of the other clubs, calderon the real madrid president likes publicity and always touts controversy, a bit like big mouth kenyon at chelsea, raul is a great player and a real madrid supporter so of course he will stick up for his club, just as bobby charlton would united, but regardless of what raul says ronaldo is under contract to the european champions, end of story

Raúl Defends Madrid Against Ferguson

Raúl González has spoken out in defence of Real Madrid after Sir Alex Ferguson stated that joining the club would be the worst thing that Cristiano Ronaldo could do for his career.

Los Merengues' captain and iconic striker was stunned by the Scotsman's outburst and believes that playing for the Spanish giants would be the pinnacle for any player.

The public tussle over Ronaldo continued with Ferguson's words and Raúl felt that he could not let the comments pass without responding.

"Joining Madrid is the best thing that could happen to anyone," the Madrid star told Marca. "I have been here for 14 years and I would not change anything."

With rumour and counter-rumour a daily occurrence as the media try to be the first to predict whether Ronaldo will stay or leave United, the soundbytes from both camps are increasing.

Ferguson's statement came on the same day that the Premier League giants were given some encouragement by their player that he would stay as he talked about the team improving next term.

Madrid president Ramón Calderón has also continued to keep the saga in the papers with comments, but his optimism has waned of late and the club have now reportedly asked about Kaká.

Real Madrid is a club of dreams not Manchester United
I bet your life that if Ronaldo was at Madrid and Manchester United offered 80m Real Madrid would sell because they are not tight fisted and have morals. Man Utd is a club run by a bunch of old weary men while Real Madrid is a young peoples club.

Best team in England, best team in Europe, currently!!! Come on Homer, players should be scrambling to join us!!
