Raúl Defends Madrid Against Ferguson
Raúl González has spoken out in defence of Real Madrid after Sir Alex Ferguson stated that joining the club would be the worst thing that Cristiano Ronaldo could do for his career.
Los Merengues' captain and iconic striker was stunned by the Scotsman's outburst and believes that playing for the Spanish giants would be the pinnacle for any player.
The public tussle over Ronaldo continued with Ferguson's words and Raúl felt that he could not let the comments pass without responding.
"Joining Madrid is the best thing that could happen to anyone," the Madrid star told Marca. "I have been here for 14 years and I would not change anything."
With rumour and counter-rumour a daily occurrence as the media try to be the first to predict whether Ronaldo will stay or leave United, the soundbytes from both camps are increasing.
Ferguson's statement came on the same day that the Premier League giants were given some encouragement by their player that he would stay as he talked about the team improving next term.
Madrid president Ramón Calderón has also continued to keep the saga in the papers with comments, but his optimism has waned of late and the club have now reportedly asked about Kaká.
Real Madrid is a club of dreams not Manchester United I bet your life that if Ronaldo was at Madrid and Manchester United offered 80m Real Madrid would sell because they are not tight fisted and have morals. Man Utd is a club run by a bunch of old weary men while Real Madrid is a young peoples club.

Real Madrid is a club for the young and Utd for the old? Ok, so when did Real have 66% of their CL success? Thats right 50-40 years ok. When have Real been most successful? Thats right 50-40 years ago. Real Madrid are propped up by myth. Utd have been most successful over the last 20 years so harldy a team of yesteryear are they? And as far as morals go, who aided Real Madrids dominance of Spain and Europe? Thats right General Franco, you know the fascist dictator who was the most detestable political figure within Western Europe after Hitlers death. So tell me this, if the situation was different and Real Madrid were after Fabregas would you and Arsenal take the money and run? Wait, this happened last year and what did Wenger do? He told Real to sod off.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Between 1998-2002 Real Madrid won 3 european cups.
So in the last 20 years Real have won 1 more CL than Utd, with a larger buget and the ability to sign better players.

Budget has nothing to do with this. Madrid are more successful and in my opinion, the better team.

Perhaps not so much budget but the ability to attract better players has certainly given them an edge. Would Man Utd have been able o sign Ronaldo, Figo and Zidane?

Man Utd would never be able to get those players money or no money.

Yes they could but they adopted the futuristic approach by wasting 17m on Nani and forking out the same fee for Anderson. Combining there fees together would total a massive transfer budget.

I don't think that there's any way that Utd could have got those three when Real did. Now its a different story because as you say we sign the best young talents and build them up, then we couldn't even do that because the english league wasn't glamorous enough. I do agree that Real are bigger its just that right now Utd are quite a bit better, in fact all the english teams are better.
