Riquelme can dictate a game, Andy Reid can too.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

Winner.

Riquelme needs hours on the ball, as does Alonso.

...so does Xavi, everyone is more effective with time on the ball, Alonso, might have been off form recently, but at his best he's a fantastic passer, and granted, allowed enough time can dictate a game

Excuse me...why is Andy Reid not being mentioned in this discussion?

Difference is, if players like Fabregas, Xavi, or Scholes are constantly closed down, they can create space or use their quick brains to still have a great impact.

I was thinking Cesc, Xavi, Alonso, Pirlo and Scholes. I wouldnt say Kaka does, he's more of a second striker. Messi dominates games in a different way, and yeah, i suppose he does dictate them to some extent.

Scholes is past it in my opinion,

KaKa Certainly dictated the manu games home and away im the champs league semi's a couple years back!

The second leg maybe, but the first leg with dictated by Scholes. Kaka was brilliant in the first half but Scholes controlled the game in the second half. In fact, that was the best team performance I've ever seen from United. What a night.

I thought the man of those two legs was Gattuso. A soon as he got injured in the first leg, Scholes was allowed to dominate proceedings.

It was over a year ago so can't remember it exactly, but you are probably right. Gattuso is a wonderful player.
