I would sell Gareth Barry to Arsenal just out of principle Liverpool have clearly unsettled Villa's club captain so I would sell to Arsenal just to make a point.

for £18 million? your welcome to him, in fact your welcome to him for anything over £14million to be honest. With xabi looking odds on to stay with us anyway now I will be surprised if Barry is the target he was previously. I suspect Rafa is still interested in him but wont go out pursuing him unless Villa dropped their price considerably |

Barry is better than Alonso and links up great with Gerrard. Looks like another 4th place finish for Liverpool if they cannot pick up a top player in the next month or so. |

Xabi on form I think is as good if not a bit better than Barry, his passing is certainly amongst some of the best when he is in form. Unfortunately he hasnt been on his best form for quite some time. However if Alonso isn't leaving then spending £18 million on Barry seems likes its not worth it. Instead we look elsewhere and at other targets. I wouldnt write us off as just going to hit fourth place just yet, still plenty more time in the transfer window to go and a lot more movement from players I would assume |

Not at all. He is perhaps Englands finest player in terms of form. |

He will do well were ever he goes. £18m is a lot of money though. |

Dont want Barry for the prices qouted. We can get Ruben de la Red for about half as much. I would also rather have Denilson/Diaby/Ramsey fight for the position. |

Barry is better than Ruben de la Red and twice the 3 players you mentioned at the end of the post. |

De la Red is far better than Barry. He was seccond best DM in La Liga last season. He is much better on the ball and has a better passing range. He is also younger and better value for money. Barry may be better than our two boys but they are far younger and have much more potential. |

Yes they are far younger. That means nothing though, probably the reason why Arsenal have been left trophyless in the past few seasons. With regards to de la Red, he isn't better than Barry. Can't say theres much in it but Barry has the drive and is brilliant on the ball. His passing range is tremendous aswell, I prefer his range of passes as opposed to de la Red's. Not to mention his leadership qualities, a potential captain perhaps. |

He can even play left back and left wing. I heard he is best behind the strikers or upfront though. |
