There are a few around in my opinion. Paul Scholes is one but the idiot retired didn't he?

Joe Hart is worthy of a go in goal, any more you can think of?

Sven Idiot Eriksson didn't use Scholes to his full potential. Fancy placing a right-footed asthmatic midget on the left-wing. Lampard was in top form back then so deserved his CM spot.

Joe Hart oozes class so can see him becoming a big hit.
Scholes

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

I still can't see Crouch getting us into a major tournament though. England need the old Michael Owen back.

Michael Johnson and Ashley Young should be starting every game for England.

England need a midfielder that can dictate a game. Spain have around 3-4.

Young, Downing and Cole can't dictate games in LW. We need a few players to break through next season.

Hart

Richards Terry Rio Cole

Hargreaves Johnson

Cole Rooney Young

Crouch

This is England's best lineup IMO. I would have a different striker up there but not enough goods ones and Walcott needs a couple more seasons.

With that formation a target man would be a necessity. This is why I think Walcott would play better in the position you have chosen Cole.

Well, in a few seaons I would put him there and Cole in Rooney's place. Or maybe a 442 with Walcott and Rooney up top, Cole and Young on the wings. That may be the team at 2010, of course if England qualify :D

Cole ahead of Rooney? I know that Rooney's form for England hasn't been great but he's still by far our best player. Also I think that Walcott will always be best as a wide foward in a 4-3-3 rather than as a striker in a 4-4-2.

Nice to see you Seven.

Back to the point, I rate Cole ahead of Rooney, and his performances for club and country warrant this IMO.

And about Walcott, he will do very well in any formation. He just needs to bulk up a little more to play through the middle week in week out. He has improved a lot in his strength ove the last year and will continue to do so.

Thanks guys, glad I was invited :) . Cole's performances have been better for England, granted. But Rooney's club performances have shown him to be the most talented English player currently within the international fold. Walcott's greatest assest is his pace right now and I just feel that this would be best served out wide.

Yes, that is why Wenger plays him wide until he learns the nuances of playing upfront. But Wenger says he sees him ultimatley as a CF because he has great timing of runs and breaks the offside trap very well.

And IMO Cole has been much better for Chelsea than Rooney has for United. But you should know that I dont rate Rooney at all :D
