Chelsea and Juventus have gone a season's worth of games unbeaten, Bayern Munich went 53 games unbeaten ffs. It happens just as frequently as Treble wins.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Greatest ownage machine: Scholes. Absolute animal when he was a regular poster, I always knew I was in the right when he was backing me up, and I couldn't wait to read a topic that he was posting in because I knew he'd be tearing someone apart

It's not a cap, going unbeaten in La Liga or anywhere else means not losing to 19 different teams. Plus winning a treble can also depend on many different variables about how easy or hard the cup runs were. United's run in 99 was fucking tough.

I agree that going unbeaten has not been given the credit it deserves, but I do think the point Scholes made is more relevant than you're making out.

Can you show me the full season with a 0 in their defeats column please? It's not as simple as saying you've not been unbeaten in a certain number of games so you've had an unbeaten season. They talk about a natural slip in performances when the leagues been one and how that's one of the most impressive things about our unbeaten record that we didn't let that happen. What other side has won the league unbeaten and given themselves a chance to go the entire season unbeaten? I can't remember it being a Bayern or Chelsea sides? It's not as simple as saying well these two sides went a certain amount of games unbeaten so an unbeaten season has been accomplished. It does not work that way.

Has to be the Treble, the Invincibles was more of an anomaly than an achievement.

Winner.

This thread reached new levels of drivel with that post.

Any team that wraps the league up and is still unbeaten will still be as motivated as ever to go the whole season unbeaten. It's a massive motivation and no team will tail off or lose focus at that point. Opposition sides might fancy ending their streak but it's safe to assume Man United were keen to end Chelsea's 40 game run, whether it overlapped from the previous season or not.

The fact these sides have gone on long unbeaten runs without doing it over the course of a whole season, doesn't take away from the fact that they've shown the capability to achieve that feat.

I'm speculating because I don't know how the seasons cross but there would be more motivation if they're ending a season chasing a title and start a season working to get a lead. This possibly missed out 6 CL games + CoC, Cop Del Rey games etc....... It's not as simple as saying they went the amount of a league season unbeaten so they're capable of it. How many of the sides you named actually went a season unbeaten? There is probably a reason they didn't as its not as simple as you're making it out to be.

Arsenal got knocked out of the CL early anyway ffs so who cares, and Chelsea's unbeaten run stretched from the Man City game in the first part of 04/05 to Man United over a year later, common knowledge. Such a poor post. Just accept my point that they proved they were capable of what Arsenal did, embrace the point, understand it, and be at one with the point.

Treble season is no question a better achievement, but man for man the Invincibles was a far greater set of players.

They showed they were capable because if it wasn't for an Anelka penalty they'd have gone the season unbeaten. That has more weight behind it than they went 40 games unbeaten. There is so much that doesn't tell. Of course the CL matters because it takes into account the travel, getting the squad rotation right etc......

If we're using the word capable it leaves the whole debate open to scrutiny because there have been many sides capable of winning a treble but the fact is its doing it which makes it an accomplishment.
