If Fergie was in charge this season, with this group of players?

I don't know but we're finished as a top club for quite a while.

We're a fucking mess. I actually think Young needs to start. Rafael and Young/Shaw.

Too hard to say, Fergie retired as he knew the squad was finished, not because of his 'health', Fergie feared the challenge, feared that his Legacy would be in tatters.

I didnt think his squad was all that great for a few seasons and the guy replaced players constantly during his 26 years and had transitional periods where he didn't win he league for a couple of seasons. He wouldn't have finished outside the top 4 last season so let's put that rubbish to bed.

As for the actual question I'm not sure but I read you say Evans was awful while under Fergie he looked really good. I'd say 2nd/3rd under Fergie but I don't think United will finish in the top 3 under LVG.

Fergie would have made a proper CB pairing out of Smalling/Jones/Evans at the very least.

Worse off IMO. SAF got out at the right time, the PL is now far more competitive than it was even in 2012/13. Lots of fresh young managers with new ideas.

Nobody will deny LVG is playing horrendous football, but certainly it's by design. He knows getting top four is essential and he's setting up the side to grind out the results and achieve just that. Expanding the style of play will come next season with the security of top four.
