I'd rather have Giroud over Cavani and spend the 38.5mil on Godin/Varane
Fuck sake man. :laughcry:
:D what?!
Of course I want a top class center back, but it's not like Kos and Per can't get the job done. Also, any new CB isn't going to suddenly make our whole defensive shape any better. At least Cavani is a World Class center forward, and a trillion times better than anything we have in that area of the pitch.

And Godin especially wouldn't cost anywhere near that amount.

Godin isn't even fucking the real deal yet, we don't know. Atletico's system could be helping a lot of frauds. Koke, Miranda, Godin are all suspect imho, they would all fail at different clubs. The two CBs could be exposed at clubs who don't press crazy like Atletico. Koke is another Oscar. Varane would massively change us though.

Really wish we had ended up getting Welbeck on loan with an option to buy, he's been such a waste of money.
Tell me about it.

Raiders what is your track record like, do you tend to eat your own words? you'll regret the shit you say about Mesut and Welbz soon.

Individual ability is still massively important for a successful team, no matter how good the "system". Look at Klopp's Dortmund after losing Goetze and Lewandowski. You don't win La Liga and get to the CL final without an enormous amount of talent, particularly in the area in which your team excels.

I think it's possible that Welbeck could turn out better, but a loan to buy option would have given us plenty of opportunity to evaluate him without committing to him long-term. Still it's dumb we were going after him at all, he cost the same as Mandzukic ffs.

Mesut Urzils ability isn't in question. He's massively talented, I was wanking when we signed him. After his 2010 WC display, I wanted him more than any other player. But his mentality just reeks of a pussy.

He's shy, he's unsure of himself, he'll try things in the PL which won't come off and he'll shy away from having a 2nd go. He's not a strong character, and because of this he'll remain a failure... Pires was the same when he first arrived, wouldn't move after he passed the ball, didn't want to do 1-2's, didn't shoot from range...

Unlike Pires, I don't think Ozil will overcome the fear, and will just carry on being a 6/10 player in this team. We need him to be a leader, but he prefers being cog in a well oiled machine.

False, re-watch the the recent 2-2 at the Emirates, ask the unbiased view of Ant, bloke apparently had a shocker but he kept demanding the ball and sprinting and trying to take everyone on by himself. Bloke mentality is criticised unfairly, this whole English attitude to someone not having the correct 'body language' is going too far. Once they even tried to call Tevez a passenger ffs. No doubt Ozil will succeed at Arsenal. Time will tell you that soon.

What will deem his time here a success? winning a trophy? coming top of the assist charts? Being the most creative player in the league? Double figures for both goals and assists? Let me know how you define him being a success.

With Cesc, his quality is in his goal creating, so when he signed for Chelsea I expected him to grab between 12-15 assists in the league. Anything less than I would have said he under performed. If it was in the low single digits, then I would have called him a flop, but he's doing his job and producing the assists, so he's succeeded so far.

I want to see the same from Ozil, create chances, come the fuck on man, I watch and I'm unimpressed.

We'll win a PL/CL with him at the club and him being the main man or 2nd. He will break the assist record in one season, he will play at the level he did at Madrid. That is what I call success and he will do it imo

Optimism at its finest. Think it would be optimistic holding onto quality like Ozil and Sanchez let alone winning trophies like that with them.

Yeah that's a bit far, but Özil had a solid 7/10 season playing in a team whose best runner was a central midfielder. What exactly was he supposed to accomplish behind Cazorla, Wilshere, and Giroud? He gets criticized way too much by people who never saw him play in La Liga.

Sanchez doesn't really strike me as a great compliment to Ozil anyway, so him being around wouldn't necessarily improve Mesut.
