Moe on form.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Can't be compared with the Cesc deal, that was an exceptional circumstance as the club were desperate to get rid and nobody really needed him. £30M is what big clubs are expected to pay these days anyway. Don't see how you can categorically say he's not "top tier" just because he hasn't been capped by Spain, Fernandinho was uncapped when he was signed as well and that's turned out ok. If you knew loads about the player then fair enough, but it seems like you're just upset that United have signed somebody that isn't a huge star. Man United & probably Van Gaal, on the other hand, have watched him a lot and decided that he's worth the money.

Garay has signed for Zenit btw, officially. Moe will probably be upset, although he's not a big star so maybe he'll be happy. Who knows.

Who knows? Did I say I just want star players?

I might not like the targets we go for but thats just my vision of what we need and how we should play. I accept that the club might want player x or cant get him so go for player z. I just dont want us to over spend on players, or miss out on certain players because we suddenly want to be frugal.

I dont know much about Garay but if we ended up paying £35m for a player like that then I would rightly have my criticisms.

It's not that hard to understand. The point of my post is that we over spend on transfer fees for players that aren't top tier which prevents us going for the world class players because we think they are unacheivable. And yes MY it is a double standard but from our club not me to allow another club to extort £5m more from us then say no deal when an agent wants a £2m fee.

Also Chris we don't have unlimited funds. I don't want us to be like Arsenal but compared to other clubs we just can't compete which is why I want us to get value for money for players like Fellaini and Herrera who shouldn't be considered as "top class" atm. Look at what happened to Spurs this year, yes they lost Bale but spent over £100m on some questionable signings just to please fans and they struggled. We can't afford another season like the one we had so we need to get the right players for the right money.
But the point is we do have the funds for these transfers. Have a bit of faith in the club, we've always operated within our financial capacity and never put that in jeopardy; We've evidently got a lot of money in the transfer kitty and we're spending in the right areas. The situation is also nothing like Spurs - we've been scouting around for a year for players to improve us; Herrera being a target in our last window and we've experienced first hand the quality that Shaw possesses. Yes, we panic bought Fellaini, a manager that was out of his depth made a mis-judgement. Now we have a proven, well respected manager across Europe who has been successful and knows firmly what is required. Seriously mate, we're going to have to spend a few more million on these players because clubs know we have to and our targets are limited due to no CL football - would you rather us spend that few more million on a few more players this window or spend nothing and get no where from being tight with our finances?

It's also refreshing to see that if the deal has gone through, we've got our business done under the radar. It does seem we're operating a lot more efficiently and effectively than last year and we cna hopefully just put that down to a learning curve/rare blip.

What is the fee?

FA Cup final is the same day as the Copa Del Rey final. I hope I don't have to miss Arsenal.

Dunno, but the BBC are reporting the medical is soon so I suspect tonight.

Fee? United didn't make an offer beyond £27M last I heard, possible Shaw pushed the move forward or we agreed to £27M with add-ons rising to £30M.
