EMRE CAN TO LIVERPOOL CONFIRMED. Two signings and transfer window is only five days old. Wenger could learn a thing or two. Got this Emre kid at the right time, 20 years old, looks a good player, the fact bayern wanted him for their future speaks volumes. Hopefully he will blossom into a brilliant turk like dag has done

Wenger won't start looking until the final day of the window.

Lambert and a Turkish guy no other club in Europe were interested in?

Laugh out loud.

Looking forward to seeing what Rodgers does with these new signings. Next season will be a big test for him as a manager, if Liverpool can sustain another title challenge as well as putting together a strong run in the CL then it'll be time to accept that he's up there with the very best managers in the world.

But they weren't. They had an option and didn't use it because if they wanted him he'd be a Bayern player.

Rakitic to Barca for just under 20m is a done deal. What a signing

Rakitic = Great value, not sure how he will fit in at Barca should be interesting

Bayern wanted him to stay in the Bundesliga another season before signing him, and they had no control over whether bayer sold him to us cause they couldnt influence overseas deals

Barcelona have an agreement with Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic (26), but talks with Sevilla have only just started. No deal yet

I like the idea of Rakitic and Busquets as a central duo, provides a great base for Iniesta/Messi/Cesc/Xavi ahead of them. Not quite Vidal but still a positive change.

Winner.

Philippe Senderos signs two-year deal with Aston Villa
• Defender leaves for World Cup with Switzerland
• ‘This is a great step in my career,’ he says

Aston Villa have signed the former Arsenal and Fulham defender Philippe Senderos.

Senderos, 29, has agreed a two-year deal that will take effect from 1 July.

He becomes the Villa manager Paul Lambert’s first signing of the summer, with the move announced prior to Senderos’s departure to the World Cup with Switzerland on Friday.

“I’m really delighted to be joining Aston Villa, a great club with such a big history, and for me this is a great step in my career,” he said.

“There will be a lot of competition for places with Ron Vlaar, Ciaran Clark, Nathan Baker and Jores Okore also very capable Premier League defenders, so it will be up to me to fight for and to earn my place in the team.

“This is a team and a club which wants to do better, I know this, and hopefully we can all develop together and create something special.”

“He’s played for some top sides and was a big influence in Arsenal’s run to the Champions League final in 2006, so we’re bringing in a really experienced player who’s been there and done it and that will be important for the team,” Lambert said. “He’ll be a great addition to the group.”

Senderos emerged through the youth system at the Swiss club Servette before he agreed to join Arsenal in December 2002.

In 117 appearances for the Gunners, he won an FA Cup medal in 2005, scored four goals and spent loan spells at Milan and Everton before joining Fulham in 2010, making 68 appearances for the Craven Cottage team.

He has been capped 52 times by Switzerland, scoring five international goals.
