With Chelsea undeniably cementing their crown as 'Kings of London' in the past few years, do you think it's there to stay? Are Arsenal capable of turning the tables back in their favour and is change needed at the helm for this to happen? Will the word 'Arsenal' ever strike fear into sides again in the same way that 'Chelsea' does in the modern era? Will Arsenal ever fly the flag for England like Chelsea have done on the European stage on such a consistent basis?

Engage brains and discuss.

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

Quite possibly the worst thread in the history of this forum.

Of course they fucking do, utterly bizarre thread and GF has turned to shit with this "anything but Arsenal" attitude. They're about 3 world class players, ST/DM/Winger, away from challenging for the PL AND CL.

3 world class players...not many then.

Chelsea will only go from strength to strength in this modern era, they're certain to be fighting for titles for the foreseeable. They've won European trophies and even at their worst they still achieve great things. Arsenal's state is fragile, their manager will more than likely be changing within the next few years, they've not had any kind of success for a decade which has left their reputation in tatters and what's worse for Arsenal is that none of this seems to be getting any better. It's all about Chelsea now, and will be for a very long time.

Note "AND CL". For the PL they could do with just a striker and challenge for the title. But there's a difference between challenging and winning and a difference between just the PL and the PL AND CL.

Head. Screw it on.

Lmfao, no chance, Mourinho is getting sacked next season if he doesn't deliver one of the PL (City favourites IMO) or CL (PSG/Barca/City/Madrid/Munich to contend with).

Mourinho is a goner and with that I'd hazard a guess at Hazard leaving for PSG and one or two others, ie. Oscar, leaving too along with Cole/Terry/Lampard retiring.

I remember seriously doubting whether I should call myself "kingsoflondon" when I first joined this forum just to avoid jabs like that. I guess I should've trusted my instincts.

Anyway, it's been mentioned before but you've got to remember that we've been completely blown away by our rival's financial power ever since we started planning for the new stadium. Even during the pre-Abramovich days we were being out-spent even by the likes of Leeds & Liverpool, then when Chelsea came along the gap in financial clout grew even further, and then it got even bigger when City came along. It sounds like excuses, but all of the problems we've had in this 17 year spell can to some extent be attributed to not having the finances to create the squad we need, we can't go and spend £20M+ on squad players like Chelsea, City & even United have done in the past, making us a lot more reliant on our key players which naturally results in fatigue & injuries.

We'll see what happens as time goes on I suppose, if we can start matching the financial power of our rivals I see no reason why we can't establish ourselves as a force once again. It's very harsh to weigh Chelsea's achievements against ours over the last decade and blame it on Wenger, it's clearly more down to finances than it is down to the manager.

I guess it comes down to whether we're actually going to spend the kind of money to create the squad we need, and I have no idea what the answer to that question is.

Arsenal will. Mate, you signed Oezil, you tried to sign Suarez/Rooney and you tried to sign Draxler. It's quite clear Arsene knows he needs to sign players and Suarez for £40M and Draxler for £30M showed intent now the question is is whether or not he's willing to go that little bit further and add on £5M to those bids to ensure that they are done deals.

Money is there, the intent to spend it is there and weaknesses have been identified but it's a question of adding on that extra amount to finish the deal.
