In all my life the hardest thing I've been through in football is seeing City win the league, especially in the way they did it. I never want that experience again, but I've got accept it will happen from time to time now. What I don't have to accept is that Liverpool can and I think that would be even worse, considering they have no right to win it. So between them I'd marginally choose City, but if there's a chance neither of them can I'll pray that turns out. Mourinho can do whatever the fuck he wants as far as I'm concerned, as long as he stops either of them succeeding.

In some ways I agree. As a Utd fan I should rather anyone but City or Liverpool winning it. But a small part of me wants Liverpool to do it to show that a relatively unfancied team can win this league if they apply themselves.

I genuinely think Liverpool winning it is the best thing that could happen to this league, which for the past few years has been a relatively straight forward battle between Utd + one other.

Chelsea are the team I least want to see win it. I want Mourinho's season of pathetic underdog mind-games to end with no trophies. And if Liverpool go on to win it, that'd be the cherry on top. I think he's more concerned with his record than anything else, so if they don't win he can say "well I told you we weren't quite ready yet" but they are and he should show some conviction. The man's a winner and he should start acting like it.
You think he tells his players they're underdogs? :hysterics:

Seriously, Frank Lampard is an absolute legend of the game. He needs to be recognised in some way eg. Frank Lampard OBE, Sir Frank Lampard or some kind of lifetime achievement award.

No right? Bizarre, they've won 18 league titles, 7 FA Cups and 5 European Cups. They are a proper club, like United and Arsenal, and have nowhere near been as financially backed as Chelsea and City. I'd rather they got relegated but there's no doubting that they are a "proper" club with a rich history. Hosted some of the all time great British footballers/managers and host an icon of a stadium in Anfield. Rodgers has play good, tactically varied football and Sterling/Gerrard/Sturridge/Suarez have been magnificent. This barbarian-esque divide between football clubs to the extent where people make statements like "they have no right to win it" or they don't allow themselves to respect other clubs is bizarre. If it were a PSG vs. Liverpool CL Final, although I'd root for PSG I wouldn't begrudge a historic club like Liverpool winning another European Cup.

I'd prefer City to win the title, couldn't give a toss about them and they are becoming an established club in their own right.

Anyone other than Chelsea, it'd speed up Mourinho's sacking mark II.

Of course not. But the way he is in the media just doesn't suit him IMO, from declaring himself to be a special one as a ripe, young manager to playing down his chances as a man renowned for success. I just don't like hearing him (or whatever player he's sent out there to parrot his views) go on like that. So I hope he gets exactly what he's been telling everyone he expects, especially since I know he doesn't really believe it.

All that and you completely missed the point I was making. No one would have suggested Liverpool to win the league at the start of the season, it was debatable whether they'd get top four. Even at Christmas, Liverpool fans were uncharacteristically accepting they probably won't win and their aim is top four. Despite not having other competitions to focus on, they shouldn't have a team capable of winning the league, and the fact they do is down to the magnificent job Rodgers had done. "They have no right" is a turn of phrase related to how unlikely it should be for them to win the league, not disrespecting Liverpool as a club.

Spot on. Replace City with Chelsea and you have my thoughts on the matter.

still a ridiculous reason not to want someone to win the league.

I don't want you to win the league because I despise Liverpool, they're our arch rivals, the next successful side to United and Id hate to put up with the scousers that I know everyday for the foreseeable. Not having any right separates why I'd rather City win it slightly, because I haven't prepared myself for Liverpool winning it again and it's bad enough one of ou two being successful, let alone both.

Here are my predictions for the rest of the season:

Liverpool 2-1 Man City
Norwich 1-3 Liverpool
Liverpool 0-2 Chelsea
Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle

Swansea 1-1 Chelsea
Chelsea 3-0 Sunderland
Liverpool 0-2 Chelsea
Chelsea 2-0 Norwich
Cardiff 0-1 Chelsea

Liverpool 2-1 Man City
Man City 4-1 Sunderland
Man City 2-0 West Brom
Crystal Palace 1-2 Man City
Everton 1-1 Man City
Man City 2-1 Aston Villa
Man City 1-0 West Ham

Man City - 86 points
Chelsea - 85 points
Liverpool - 84 points

If City win on Sunday that's pretty much the league won there and then. Going to be an absolutely unreal end to the season but I think the title is between Liverpool and City, really struggling to see how Chelsea will win it, even with a win at Anfield.

Winner.
